WE ARRIVED--short version
21.05.2009
SHORT VERSION:
We arrived safely, at the right airport (some weather was threatening to divert us) and all of our baggage made it.
We met with ICC in the morning. Robert gave us a run down on the various ministries of the church—amazing and impressive. God is at work in Santo Domingo.
We asked Robert how he copes with all the various problems and stresses. His response was so genuine and so simple:
“We are not going to save the world. Only God can do that. We will not fall into the trap of results oriented, success measured programs. We live with these people and they are our friends. We try to help them”.
My take away after meeting Robert is a completely new understanding of Micah 6:8
8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Robert does justice in the Colonial District of Santo Domingo. He does it for his friends out of kindness for them. ICC lives the social gospel.
We served lunch to the homeless and then ate lunch with the workers. There were many happy greetings, laughter and hugs. A good reunion for Ana, Dave, Shirley and Robin.
This is Wendy, baby Sarah and Grandma Ana.
